Hi Star

I enjoyed reading your Shavian handwriting. I like the way
how you write the 'm' and 'n' characters with the extra slant
This makes it easy to distinguish between the two characters.
In fact all your characters are very neat and legible. Very nice
Shavian handwriting.

Note: ( Most people probably already know this but the photo
album, at least for me, defaults too the medium view. The text
is much easier to read when switched to the larger view.)

I have been trying to practice my Shavian handwriting by
using it to take notes in. Like with anything, with more
practice the better the handwriting looks. Does anyone else
here practice handwriting Shavian with notetaking?

Regards,
Brian

Thanks, Brian. Yes, the worst problem I have is when one of the short
letters wants to look like a tall or long, for instance M looking like
Z, which is why I add the extreme. What did you think of the /HW/
character?

Hi Star,

>> What did you think of the /HW/ character?

By /HW/ do you mean the wh like in whale (the shavian woe)?
If thats the character. I like how you write that. In fact I like
how you write all of your characters.

I have the same problem. To correct this I started to emulate
your handwriting style; making my own handwriting easier to
read with better distinguishable characters.

Is that like a fountain pen?

Yes, K. Read's QS calls it Whitewheat

Tee hee, Thanks! What you don't see is that I have both studied
handwriting for more than ten years and that before I started using
college ruled paper, I started with primary ruled paper. Yes, the stuff
they give elementary students.

Yes, I am currently using a Manuscript brand italic pen which is
available from Hobby Lobby, and uses ink cartridges. it forces you to
give your letters a little width, and allows for more ease of
manipulation to make each letter.

Now we just need to make a font based on your handwriting and we'll be
golden. :P

Heh heh, I'm sure it will become sloppier as I realize what mistakes I
can make and what lines I can fudge. I have already noticed the front
side of /tot/ dropping lower, the /ice/ character looking like /roar/
or /age/ looking like /lol/. and the like.

We'll give it a little while. I may yet find a short fiction book or
story in the public domain that I like that I can copy. You know, there
are days that I wish I had a tablet pc, and could just write on the
screen.

Hi Star,

Wow, what a wonderful addition to the photo gallery. I too am impressed by
your handwriting. Thanks for sharing this with us! Feel free to write as
much more as you can! :D

I do like your 'hw' letter. It's very similar to the Quikscript equivalent,
and being an elegant combination of 'haha' and 'woe' makes perfect logical
sense. It's just a shame the Unicode points have been "set in stone" now.

Thanks, Hugh.

You know, I'm learning a lot as I write about why things are like they
are. I believe that Read may have actually known what he was talking
about when he did the things that we complain about, such as the /haha/
/hung/ reversal, which flows naturaly with my writing, and as for the
on, awe, ah distinction, as I write, they seem to fall into place.
While writing Richard III's Act I scene 1 speech (Now is the winter of
our discontent...), I did have the opportunity to write the word
Murderer, which seemed logical to have the schwer twice at the end.
This and other interesting lessons can be learned with a little time
and a broad nibbed pen.

Once my scanner is operational again, it will make this whole transfer
thing much easier, though if I had my druthers, I would make paper
somewhat different. Rather than have a full line to be skipped, which
as you can see I did not, but I would have put a half line between each
line so that the decenders of one line did not over lap the ascenders
of the line below. For my writing, this is not so much a problem since
the ascenders don't reach to the top of the line, and the decenders are
relatively short.

Hi Star
It's is much easier to be innovative in handwriting than in sending
messages, where you and the receiver have to both use a common font.
Say la vie.
It is interesting that the unvoiced WH sound is most commonly found
in the What,
Which, Why, Where, When words and is more obvious when it starts a
sentence. It reminds me of the voiced "Th" sound (Thou)
