Okay, here's the first cycle of my provisional transliteration rota. It starts next Sunday. I've put myself first, because I've got something practically ready, and then I've just listed everyone in the order that they volunteered. If you want to be added to the list or removed from it, or if you want me to juggle the dates around, let me know.

Sunday 14 November 1999 Lionel Ghoti ghoti@... <mailto:ghoti@...>
Sunday 21 November 1999 Bob Richmond RSRICHMOND@aol.com <mailto:RSRICHMOND@aol.com>
Sunday 28 November 1999 Hugh Birkenhead mixsynth@... <mailto:mixsynth@...>
Sunday 5 December 1999 Hal Fulton hal9000@... <mailto:hal9000@...>
Sunday 12 December 1999 Philip Newton philip.newton@... <mailto:philip.newton@...>
Sunday 19 December 1999 A.M. Callaway acal@... <mailto:acal@...>
Sunday * * * N.R. Stewart NRStewart@... <mailto:NRStewart@...>

I haven't filled in the last date yet. Do you think we should skip Boxing Day and the day after New Year's Day?
I'll post this list in the Shavian eGroup Vault shortly.

Dear Sir,
I am also doing trans-spelling of material into the Shavian script. While I'm not able to provide you with regular documents, as soon as I am able to download the Shavian fonts onto my new computer (software problem right now), I would be glad to transmit my Shavian texts to you for use.

God bless you, Sir. I only suggested the rota in order to encourage the uploading of a steady stream of Shavian texts to some centralised, non-proprietary place. Any texts added to the Vault will be more than welcome, especially if they're uploaded gratuitously, irrespective of any list of assigned dates.

I have taken the liberty of creating a Texts file in the vault, and started it off with a small piece of my own. I hope this may get a few more following.

My transliteration is slightly early, but at least it's there. It is a suite of five poems and two prose pieces (from my old GCSE English Anthology), written using the Ghoti font, and saved in PC Word 95 format. (I am hoping that editors/browsers on the Mac platform can read this file type - Bill W. used this format so I assumed it would be OK for me to do the same.)

Anyway, enjoy! I look forward to seeing other transliterations appear as time goes by...

Evenin' fellow Shavia

I've uploaded the current version of TPT to the vault. You'll find it
under >apps>windows. Why Windows? Well, even though it's a text based
program it will not run under DOS. So that would be misleading. :-)

Subject: [shavian] My missing transliteration

Toggle Shavian
I'm ever so, ever so sorry: I should have uploaded a transliteration last Sunday, and I still haven't. Why hasn't anyone nagged me about it?

The thing is, I have to move house by the end of November, and I've only recently realised that if I don't find somewhere new to live soon, I will be out on the street. I've spent much of the last week or so on the London Underground and traipsing along horrible long streets and speaking to landlords. I think I am becoming lame in my left leg. See, folks, I've had no free time ages, and I've had to put the perverse alphabetical hobbyist things on the back-burner. However...

I think I have Sunday free. I've just printed out my rough version of my transliteration, and I'll check it over tomorrow morning, then upload it, a full week late. Damn my soul to hell. Thanks to all who have spoken of uploading their transliterations early.
