Well, that doesn't seem possible. A good while back I was in touch with Thomas about Alice in Shavian which is how I got started on the project. But he never sent me a completed transcription, and hasn't answered e-mails. (I hope he is well of course!) Anyway I have to do it the hard way…

He's over there? I am.

I have a version of the Alice in Shavian with Latin glyphs for easier reading. but in the matter of unstressed syllables it's very much different from what's in Androcles.

Surely we don't have Shavian OCR..!

I have Androcles in hardcover (its my scan on the wikipedia page for it)
and have read it many times. I would not use it to spell check Shavian.
Battle for Wesnoth has been largely transliterated. I wouldn't use it as a
spell check source either.

It would have to be more accurate than a Deseret-to-Shavian transliteration.

Something must be better than nothing.

I also wouldn't mind a copy of Androcles in plain text, as it were. Not only would it allow for cutting and pasting and playing around with different sizes and font styles, but it would also drastically reduce the file size, from 44.1MB down to about 200K. 44.1MB may not sound like much these days, but it would only take about 23 of these files to fill up a Gig of space, while the text only version would need about 5000 copies to fill up the same amount of space.

Well, somebody ought to get typing then. ;-)

Hey all. I've launched the web site for my new books, www.shawalphabetbooks.com It's basically a teaser page right now, but you'll be able to get your first look at the covers for the books. As for the publication date, that will be... well, you'll just have to wait and see. :-)

Font troubles again (due to ineptitude, no doubt ) .Only wanted to test
if a message posted in 2013 would be registered as being received
(because of time-zone difference) in the previous year. It can, what
fun!

Subject: Poe Meets Shaw is now on sale! :-)
Toggle Shavian
Check out the latest update at www.shawalphabetbooks.com for a direct link. I got the Original version published at 6:14:02pm and the Condensed version published at 7:00:21pm, with the final updates to the home page done and uploaded at 9:48:02pm, making the 50th anniversary (barely) with about 2 hours and 12 minutes to spare. :-) It is somewhat bittersweet, though. When I attempted to launch the original book for the retail market, Lulu hacked and slashed the profit margin down to 37 cents (from a $36.99 cover price), making a per sale margin for me of only 1%. :-( So, for now, they're ONLY being made available at Lulu.com (direct links from my home page, which I STRONGLY suggest checking out, or by doing a search for "Poe Meets Shaw" at Lulu) until I can find out if there's any way for them to scale back on the retailer's profit margin. Even if I ramped the price up to $49.99, the profit would only work out to be $5.77, and I really don't want to do that. Basically, either there's a way to reduce the retailer's take or I'll need to spend at least another month doing a retool on the book to get the page count down, and thus the cost, while maintaining all of the original content. Bottom line, this may be a VERY limited first edition, depending on what sort of response I get from Lulu support.

Subject: Poe Meets Shaw temporarily offline.
Toggle Shavian
Hey all. I've taken the original version of Poe Meets Shaw offline temporarily so I can do a quick retool on it. Doing so will allow me to reduce the costs enough that it'll be worthwhile to sell through other retailers such as Amazon (definitely) and brick and mortar stores (I hope). It should be back online in no more than about 2 hours. Poe Meets Shaw Condensed will still be available during this time. To the person who bought a copy earlier today, I thank you. You're the only one to do so, and therefore you'll be getting an EXTREMELY limited print run (with the 9 I ordered, that'll make yours copy 10 out of 10). If you can please send me your name and address through e-mail, I'll make sure to send you a certificate of authenticity as to its limited nature before the week is out.
