Toggle Shavian
Hello,
I just took a look at this file, and I am having problems with it.
Specifically, there are lots of places where Quikscript should be
showing, but Roman characters are showing instead. I took a look at
the source, and this is specifically happening with the following
font tag...
[font face="Kingsley"]
Of course, substitute for the brackets...
Any idea? I did take the file and convert all those Kingsleys over
to Jerome, which is the only font for Quikscript that I have been
able to find.
Thanks

Subject: [shavian] What happened to this site?
Toggle Shavian
Hi,
I just tried to get to the following site, but I can't get there...
http://www.shavian.f2s.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi
Does anyone know what happened to it? My provider just flipflopped
our routing, and I am wondering if something happened to this site,
or if my new routing is messed up.
Thanks

It was working earlier today. It does not work now for me either. I
hope it is a temporary problem. Time will make all clear.

??!!?!?!?
I have NO idea what has suddenly happened to this site. It looks as if F2S
has terminated my webspace, and I'm not sure why. I'll check it out. It might
involve a change in address, if they've deleted the website - I'll let you
know what the new address is if that is so.

Subject: [shavian] Typing Shavian has never been easier!
Toggle Shavian
In the Quickscript group on http://groups.yahoo.com/Read_Alphabet we have been discussing about a keyboard driver that would simplify typing in Quickscript, without having to use that shift-key. Take a look at the discussions through the website under the subject 'Macbeth'.
Please don't ignore this, this is rather revolutionary stuff for the Shavian and Quickscript Computer world! Give it a look. I don't have much time to explain everything, but I'm sure you can figure it out yourself, if not, others may want to help.
Anyway, here is the message I posted to the Quickscipt group (please install the Jerome Font first):
________________________________
Ok, cuz no-one has tried to create a driver yet, I have skipped my homework and created this. It is far from perfect, and could use some fixes. You only need the normal Jerome font and www.tavultesoft.com <http://www.tavultesoft.com> 's Keyman, the Win 3.11 version, which does work under win '95+ . I dunno about other operating systems. http://www.tavultesoft.com/keyman/downloads/keyman32.exe is the url of the program.
You will type in a roman reform scheme, based on Newromaji (it's not really 100% real Newromaji, but anyway, it works)
Take a look into the .kmn file with a text editor to get an idea how it works.
His iz an egzympal tekst F tFpt wiH H kIbYrd-drFvD F hAve Jast mEd. it kAn stil Vz sam fiksiN, bat At lIst its redi fYr sam eksperimentiN.
I have never typed so fast in QS. I'm not even a fluent reader/writer in kwikskript, but this is really going to be interesting.
This file can use some fixing, but you can also come up with a different scheme of roman writing that gets converted into QS. Perhaps somebody can create a more efficient scheme. I have put c under c, x under S, u under M and q under N because those sounds occur quite often and a digraph would not be needed, 'cuz there were still some letters left.
AND perhaps we will one day have a driver that automatically converts text to proper senior Quickscript without the user actually paying attention to it.
I have posted a similar message to the Shavian group.

I looked up the Ikonboard program on the web and saw that it was a program that runs on a server.
Unfortunately, I do not have access to a server! All this high-speed access and I am forbidden to
host anything on the web!
For all,
The following is in Junior.ttf, a form of Quickscript whose font can be downloaded from the Read_Alpahbet fonts. It was adapted from the nice Jerome font so that the characters do not touch. This makes it easier for me to read the Quickscript.
