Subject: [shavian] Instructions for 40 key keyboard...
Toggle Shavian
Well, not quite.
I have written a short page of Shavian/Quickscript resources
including directions on how to upload fonts and how to load the
experimental keyboard drivers we have been talking about.
The keyboard uses chording of the letters so that it makes more sense
to me. Tell me what you think.
The Page does not have any Shaw Script on it yet, because it assumes
that a visitor does not have any fonts when they first enter. (Maybe
I will add a picture later.)
Have fun with it.

I have written a short page of Shavian/Quickscript resources
including directions on how to upload fonts.
Eventually it will show how to load the
experimental keyboard drivers we have been talking about on the
Shavian and Quickscript boards.
The keyboard mapping programs use chording of the letters.
Ewout Stam's keyboard is organized according to the concepts of
NewRomaji, so that the most used characters in English use only one
keystroke.
I am working on a keyboard that transliterates some of the
capitalized letters to two letter cords that are easy for me to
remember.
A couple days ago I said that these resources could be downloaded
from my site. When I tested it, I could not download. I will create
a zipped version which I hope will download in the next week.
Have fun with it.

I'm not too certain on that, but using c, x and q seemed logical to me.
I'm currently investigating this frequency list. But is differs from person
to person. I use 'y' a lot, because of my Dutch background. Others often
pronounce this as 'a', I don't.

As I thought. There are several issues that arise from this.
There are two meanings of 'perfect'. As I say them, one has the stress on the 'per' bit (e.g. perfect nature), and the other has the stress on the 'fect' bit (e.g. he had to perfect his kitchen). Do you pronounce them the same?
Also, the same question with 'pervert'. Do the verb (e.g. pervert the course of justice) and noun (e.g. what a complete pervert) versions of the word have no difference in pronunciation?

To me, they have a difference in pronunciation, but only on the stress of the syllables. He had to perfect his kitchen stresses on the last syllable. Perfect nature stresses on the first syllable. In your opinion, how should it be done.

There is a way to do this, Reminders, I am an American from the
southern states:
Perfect (v): Peep, Err, Fief, Egg, Kick, Tot
Perfect (n): Peep, Err, Fief, If, Kick, Tot
This seems to work, but I can really find no shavian symbol to
distinguish beteween Err and Urge, both words are used interchangeably,
there for it is like that of Roman spelling, and must be read in
context.

This pronunciation thing is a killer. When I pronounce perFECT vs. PERfect, I pronounce the ect the same way. I don't say PERfict, I say PERfect. I can agree to a certain way to handle this for the sake of legibility, but it will be different than the way that I pronounce the word.
