Evan,

The last message, sent via e-mail rather than
using the Yahoo interface, worked for me. That is,
I received it in Shawscript. Did it work at your end?

Yes, it did! I could actually read it. Let me see... I should be able
to copy and paste it as well...

Yes, that works too. Good deal! Now if only I could get my keyboard to
work, I could type it myself... Hopefully soon. I need to do some more
research.

OK, to sum up for anyone else encountering problems
(please correct me when mistaken), if you use unicode
compliant e-mail software, and send your messages by
e-mail rather than via the yahoo interface, and have
downloaded and installed Scott Harrison's unicode
keyboard system and font, and have a unicode-compliant
browser, then you should be able to write, send, and
read messages in Shawscript! Good, eh?

Mac OS X (shameful advertising) does all this, but
Windoze probably has an equivalent capacity.

Not to be a spoil sport, but none of this works if you get your
messages via digest. Yahoo! sends out the digest as:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

Which might be something that the group admin can set. Otherwise, how
do people who use other languages communicate with Groups? Also, I
wonder what the little, "What language is this post in?" choice at the
bottom of the web submit does?

Good point. And I believe that it actually does change the encoding, but
Unicode is not supported.

True.
However if you go to //groups.yahoo.com/shawalphabet/
and read the postings there it does now seem to work for
those who use unicode-supported browsers, as I expect
you do. Unfortunately not everyone does as yet and we
should probably continue with keyboard-shavian for the
foreseeable future until all have updated their software.
At least I think that's all that's needed.

dshep

'pologies, 'pologies,

I seem to have mistakenly addressed you as Evan.
Sorry 'bout that, I expect I need new spectacles.
