You would write eat+loll, [Il].
"Really" could be written either [rIlI] or [rIalI], maybe even [rWlI] (with
a long 'if' sound).
(Square brackets mean copy what's in them into a word processor and change
the font to a Shavian one, to see Shavian characters. Best way I can think
of to allow Shavian to be written in this group...)

These don't seem to be minimal pairs to me. The sound
of disgust doesn't have the same glide onset that the word
"you" does, so I'd spell it EAT+OOZE.
"Fuel" is FEE+YEW+LOLL while "few" is simple FEE+YEW.
"Music" is MIME+YEW+ZOO+IF+KICK while "mew" is
simply MIME+YEW.
"Pew" and "phew" are both the same: PEEP+YEW.

Usually, no. In almost all fonts, the zero is narrower than the
letter O. In most monospaced fonts, there is a dot or slash or
other feature to distinguish the two.

"Phew" is, in Brit-Eng at least, FEE+YEW.

Hi Bob
Sound like good offer to me. I'd like to buy your copy of G.B. Shaw's
Androcles and the Lion at US $20. I had an Orange Penguin copy ages
ago, but it just got too old and yellow brittle to use. I'll send my
Postal address offline.

Hi Philip
You made a contradictory statement.
Phil said:

of disgust doesn't have the same glide onset that the word
"you" does, so I'd spell it EAT+OOZE.
If the two words sound different then that makes then a minimal pair.
> "Music" is MIME+YEW+ZOO+IF+KICK while "mew" is
> simply MIME+YEW.

While "Pew" and "phew" are both pronouced the same: PEEP+YEW in your
accent group. In my accent group, pew is [pV] and phew is [pIM].
Surprisingly, puke is [pVk], where I would expect it to sound closer
to phew. Likewize "mew" is [mIM] obviosly somehow related to meow
[mIQ].
When I write [IM] above, I am not pronoucing each vowel separately,
I am merging or gliding the vowels into each other to make a Dipthong.
I do notice I have a tendancy to pronouce words as they are spelled
in T.O.
when lacking any information to the contrary.
Regards, Paul V.
P.S. When the operative word is most, I think we have to back off
from saying things are one way or another. So let me bow out of this
zero discussion.

I just sent my copy of the library edition of Androcles and the Lion to Paul Vandenbrink in Ontario. He was the only person on the list who asked for it.

Sorry Paige
I didn't realize you wanted it. It is a shame it's still under
Copyright?. I could have made a copy and forwarded you the original.
Does anyone know who owns the Copyright?

considerably better paper than the paperback. The binding is in good

Paul:
I saw your response after I sent my e-mail. I have no idea who owns the copyright now. Every time I think about getting a copy of this book, I do an internet search but I have never found a copy for sale. I guess I am not persistent enough as I don't continue looking over an extended period of time.. The last time I looked for a copy was a couple of years ago I believe.
