Hi!
I write Kwikskript and there isn't that much difference in the two
alphabets. Learning speed would be faster in Kwikskript since the phonetic
spelling is easier to understand. I did not like the characters for "v" and
"b" so I use the Shavian ones. The "h" I use is also Shavian. Except for
two other vowel sounds that is about all the difference there is. The "f"
is a bit different but not radically. I can read both scripts without
confusing letters. It is just not that different.

If you use a program that supports smoothing fonts, they come out looking much better.

Thank you muchly, Hal. How are your Shavian OCR and flashcard programs coming along? It would be nice to have an editable version of Androcles, but I don't have the strength to type it in.

Trying to think of other applications for such a program, once Androcles was done... Do you think, since Shavian is so clear and not very prone to differences in handwriting style, that it might be possible to do OCR on handwritten Shavian?

I have had some difficulties with the Java version of the flashcard
program. I
am thinking of redoing it in Delphi, though that would limit it to
Windows
machines.

The OCR... well, that is mostly a dream. I don't have the expertise to
write
such a program. I do believe it is "doable" though it might present
some
problems.

As for handwritten Shavian... my guess is that it would be no better
than
T.O., perhaps worse. I have seen "F" converted to "P" too many times,
and
the like... I can easily envision confusion between certain pairs of
Shavian
letters.

Maybe I will run this idea past someone here at work.
