I've been working for a long time on automated transliteration, and I
thought it would be nice to share my work (hence my finally getting
around to joining this group :) ).

You can download my list of automatically transliterated words in the
Files>Software section. It's just a list of words that I converted
using some PHP scripts I wrote and the CMU dictionary. There are some
problems with the transliterations. The computer couldn't distinguish
between proper and common words and the CMU source does not
distinguish the Shavian sounds Y and o, so my scripts had to
guess...and sometimes it just didn't work out.

That's where you can help. I've also taken the liberty of adding a
table in the database section. It contains basically the same data as
in the file mentioned above, except I've transliterated (again!) the
Shavian words from Unicode to Shavian ASCII so that it can be read.
Also, I've included a field called "Proper" and "Verified" to indicate
that an entry needs a dot and that it has been verified by a human.
Since I'm using a modem, I only got about 20 words in, but perhaps
someone with a faster connection can upload the rest. (Contact me for
the source document, if you'd like to help.)

I wrote a number of cool programs ... one automatically transliterates
websites...I read CNN.com in Shavian! Unfortunately, I can't really
show it off to the public since I've only got a modem :(. If you'd
like to donate some webspace, please let me know. I *really* want to
create a web-based community-edited Shavian dictionary (à la
Wiktionary) to generate an "official" dictionary of Shavian English.
I've already begun most of the work, I just need a place to put it.
Also, if you'd like to help with artwork & such, let me know.

This is my new Shavian Dictionary Project. The goal is to create a
complete online transliterating dictionary. At the moment these
features have been implemented:
(1) View the site in Shavian (Unicode), Shavian (ASCII) or Latin.
(2) Transliterate between Unicode and ASCII.
(3) Browse dictionary.
(4) Look up words (in Shavian or Latin).

Unfortunately, I'm hosting this project myself, so connectivity is
very shakey and slow. I hope you will be patient, though.

Features yet to be implemented:
(1) Dictionary editting.
(2) User support.

Tell me what you think, and if you can't get to it, keep trying.
